Daniel Hedrick Obituary
Daniel Gene Hedrick, 72, a member of the Forest Grove community died Friday morning, February 26, 2010 at the Hillsboro Rehabilitation Center in Hillsboro.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, March 20th @ 2pm at Sunset Covenant Church, 18555 NW Rock Creek Blvd, Portland, Oregon.
Daniel was born on March 30, 1937 in Forest Grove, OR. He was one of eight children born to Clarence and Edith (Bigsby) Hedrick. He was raised and received his education in Forest Grove and attended Forest Grove High School graduating from the Class of 1955.
He was honorably discharged from the US Marine Corp in 1957 after serving his country overseas.
He was united in marriage to Jane Mizner on February 14, 1958 in Forest Grove, OR. Following their marriage, they made their home throughout the Washington Co. area including Hillsboro, Forest Grove and Cornelius. They divorced in 1978. Daniel then settled in Forest Grove.
Daniel was in the RV repair business all his life. He worked on and repaired RV's for Aladdin Trailers, Kit Manufacturing, and Bobs RV Service in Forest Grove.
Among his interests were hunting, fishing and the outdoors. All would say that his love for his family superseded those interests. He was a funny, witty character who was close to his children, grandchildren, siblings, nieces and nephews. Dan showed immense interest in his grandchildren, even after he became housebound. He always made sure that they knew he loved them and that they had little tokens of his appreciation. He was known as ‘Uncle Dan' to many but acted as a father to those nieces and nephews closest to him.
Daniel loved classic cars, especially Oldsmobile's. He rebuilt a '50 Olds with the boys helping here & there. The boys took the Olds racing without Dads permission. When he found out, he just smiled and said, "How fast did it run?" He loved cooking and would often send his daughter to the store to get that perfect ingredient for his latest recipe. He enjoyed close, lifelong relationships with a handful of friends that, while making his life rich and full, made their lives even more so.
Dad will be missed by all of us.
