Evelyn Lucill Dillman
September 19, 1927 - August 28, 2016
Evelyn Lucille Dillman was born in Tillamook Oregon on September 19th, 1927 to Elizabeth Bennett Harris and Orville Owen Harris. Evelyn passed away on August 28th, 2016 at the age of 88 years and 11 months. A memorial service of remembrance will be held as St. Andrews Presbyterian Church, corner of SW Sunset and SW Dosch Rd in Portland, on Saturday, September 10th, 2016 at 1:00 PM.
Evelyn grew up in Forest Grove, Oregon and Graduated from Forest Grove High School in 1945. She married Paul Edwin Dillman on December 13th, 1956. Paul preceded her in death on January 4th, 2001 after 44 years of marriage.
Evelyn worked at Tektronix when her children were young but much preferred to be a mother and homemaker. The family attended Trinity Presbyterian Church near their home in SW Portland where Paul and Evelyn were active in Mariners and led the Trinity youth group for several years. She and Paul became Foster parents around 1970. Later on she worked for Heifer Project International and trained to be a peer counselor for seniors through The Views program.
Evelyn's passions were her family and playing bridge. She was a master bridge player and she and Paul made many new friends through their love of the game.
Evelyn's mobility was compromised later in life and, although eventually confined to a wheel chair, she continued to delight in family outings and bridge games at local Senior Centers. A highlight of these years were frequent lunches and car rides with her youngest son, Paul Andrew Dillman.
Evelyn realized a lifelong dream when she went on an Alaskan cruise at the age of 80 with three of her children.
Evelyn was preceded in death by sons Keith Harris Dillman in 1959, Kurt Avery Dillman in 1966, and her daughter Kelly Susan Durkee in January of this year.
She is survived by her daughters Carol Dawn Stanfield (Earl), Paula Allison Peter, and Laura Ruth Faulkner and by her sons Eric Miller Dillman (Gayle) and Paul Andrew Dillman. Her sister Marjorie Keller resides in Forest Grove. Evelyn is also survived by 14 Grandchildren and 9 Great Grandchildren and several foster children and grandchildren.
