Gustaaf Bonte Obituary
Gustaaf Coenraad Bonte, 91, of Beaverton, Oregon passed away on January 10, 2023.
Gustaaf was born on August 22, 1931 in Malang, Indonesia to Jacobus and Maria Bonte (Meijer). He was the thirteenth, of sixteen children. On December 11, 1952 he married Vyella Mundler.
After welcoming their first child, Maud, they left Indonesia by boat for the Netherlands in 1956. They had two more children, Astrid and Frederik, before immigrating to the United States in 1962. Months later their youngest child, Patricia, was born.
Gustaaf worked at Teufel's Nursery and then Huntington Rubber Company, as a maintenance mechanic. His hobbies included fishing, gardening and playing in a band; he played steel guitar, keyboards and electric guitar. Gustaaf enjoyed cooking and feeding as many people as he could. His Nasi Goreng and Bami Goreng were delicious.
Gustaaf was preceded in death by his parents; fourteen siblings; his beloved wife of 64 years; and his grandson Joshua. He is survived by brother Chris; his children Maud, Astrid, Frederik and Patricia; grandchildren Nathaniel, Amber and Keshia; and great grandchildren Jacoby, Sariah, Leif and Henrik.
A service will be held on Saturday, January 21, 2023 at 11 o’clock at Royal Villa Clubhouse, 11200 SW Royal Villa in Tigard, Oregon.

I loved you as my neighbor and how adorable you’d dress up when we’d go to lunch…you were so darn cute. Will miss that wonderful smile when you’d stop by to ‘supervise’. Finding comfort in that you are pain free, can breath easily and are with your beloved wife whom you missed dearly every day.
I remember Oom Gus’s many visits to our home to play Hawaiin music with my Dad. He always had a smile on his face and a good laugh to share with us. God bless you Oom Gus and Tante Ella. You are both missed.
